State of the Elioncho nation

by The News Compiler

Today I want to brief you on what’s currently going on at Elioncho’s. For the last couple of months we’ve abandoned desktop apps and have been focusing on the internet building blogs and web apps. Tiogus has enjoyed relative success with his boxing blog while Elioncho has had 2 sunken ships due to his lack of  discipline. I list them here:

1) sports4breakfast.com – Died after Elioncho thought he enjoyed more writing about sports in Spanish than in English. Sadly, it died when it was gathering momentum.

2) sehablafutbol.net – Died when Elioncho realized he didn’t find the right words in Spanish. The name sucked and the .net extension was overkill.

After two consecutive fails Elioncho opted to help others create their blogs. He assisted Pablo Bassil on Tech n’ Crap and Andrés Crump on Golfing Highlights.

Talks have been going on between Tiogus and Elioncho to fully return to work on an app together, but chances are they’ll not do it until late next year. Tiogus is currently working on another web app code-named ‘huzzla’ and Elioncho is struggling to open a new family restaurant while working extra hours on a web app code-named ‘dumodo’. We’ll have to wait and hope this two creative forces join once and for all and deliver, that’s right, DELIVER.

Thanks and stay in touch.

We’re back.

by andrés

Finally, after three months of trial and tribulations, sheer uncertainty and despair, still out of physical (yet not digital) shape, with our unkempt facial hair tingling with anticipation just a couple of inches away from a screen, (which is a window, (which is a world),) we return to our natural form.

A lot has changed, however, since we last posted. Changes, and not mere updates or refresh button clicks, both communal and personal; political and spiritual; philosophical and financial have bombarded our passive perceptions from all imaginable corners of the media ring this last annual quarter. Changes that have spiralled us into the infinities of re-thinkingness, a seemingly bottomless pit from which only the most daringly brave, after having sucked from the teet of the very essence of life, can spring out from with garnered wisdom, passion-laden hearts and a nearly canine olfactory sense for what’s hands-down fucking awesome.

In short, we’ve learned along this exodus of a trail that there is more to life than just gaming, video games, games played in video game consoles (also referred to as v.g.), the consoles themselves, people who develop these so called v.g. and the people who would sacrifice herds of lambs to do so.

So, in short, expect more.

Duke Nukem Forever: Nuked!

by elioncho

Duke Nukem Forever has changed its release date from “when it’s done” to “done with it”. Fans haven’t stop posting since the news broke out. These are the highlights of an online conversation:

Dude 1:

QUAKE was always better than Duke

Dude 2:

At least Duke had a theme going instead of mixing all kinds of crazy shit at random (samurai sword guys, soldiers with laser guns, zombies, tar balls, demons, ghosts, lightning-shooting mutant polar bears, wtf)

Dude 1:

Lizards with jetpacks, flying mentalist octopodes, pigs in cop costumes… yeah, totally.

More partying than coding?

by The News Compiler

Word has spread over the Brain Dead Studios offices that TioGus has been severely affected by Elioncho’s rise to stardom. It is rumored that the 24 year old developer has been afflicted by a rare case of jealousy towards his friend and long time co-partner.

Since starting development on Oncho’s Engine, due by the end of May 2008, TioGus’s reputation has suffered due to poor focus and lack or discipline over the last couple of days, fueled by questions and speculations regarding his work ethic, which was called into question when he was caught partying at a local Washington DC nightclub last weekend (see image above). His co-partner Elioncho confronted him and called for him to “change his behavior” and “focus on coding the engine“. On May 06, 2008, TioGus was unable to attend an online Oncho’s Engine status meeting due to effects from a lengthy and belated celebration of his birthday the night before, which rose even more speculations by the internal staff at Brain Dead Studios. Today, when asked by Elioncho about the expected completion date of Oncho’s Engine’s first alpha-stage prototype, TioGus harshly replied “when its done!” (citation needed)

TioGus depressed!

by The News Compiler

Rumors have spread that TioGus has been going through severe depression over the last couple of days – possibly caused by his current lack of form in Halo 3. In his own words: “Those n00bs are getting better, while I am either getting dumber or older – my reflexes are failing me”. Tiogus is known as VISOR103 in the Halo 3 Multiplayer world. A promising young champ, he boasted a 1.38 Kill/Death ratio one month ago but now, with his ratio decreasing day by day (it is 1.34 as of this writing) he claims that “I’m a mere reflection of my former self” and that “I went from being a young champ to an old chump“. A recent incident intensified his depression situation. On Sunday night TioGus played a multiplayer match with his friends against some other opponents online. The map of choice was FOUNDRY. After getting completely annihilated, TioGus checked his stats at the end of the game: his spread was -9, which meant 3 kills, 12 deaths. He stood up from the couch in a dejected fashion and went to get something from the fridge – most likely a 4 day old pizza slice. While this was happening, one of his friends came down from his room in order to monitor the Halo 3 games and after looking at the stats, the “-9″ spread caught his attention. He laughed in astonishment “Wow, who was that, was it VISOR103?”. One of his other friends (shehryarr) muttered “That was not VISOR103, that was his shadow”. Unbeknownst to shehryarr, TioGus had been eavesdropping the conversation from the moment it began , and, after hearing this disheartening comment, ran up the stairs and seconds later a door was shut violently. He came out of the room 2 hours later with puffy eyes to announce his immediate retirement from Halo 3.

In honor of VISOR103 and his accomplishments, this weekend a farewell/exhibition match will take place. This event will encompass a medley of Halo 3 games, including the famous INFECTION on GUARDIAN, one of TioGus’s favorites. Everybody who wants to play is welcome. In the meantime, TioGus would like to thank the following Halo 3 players for their support over the last couple of months:

  • shehryarr
  • avaes
  • culturedGorilla
  • RUB114
  • hchu401
  • XpAnDeR101

The week in updates III

by tiogus

Let me take some time to inform you about what is currently going on here at Brain Dead Studios. Elioncho and myself have been hard at work on our next minigames. At this point, unfortunately, we can’t reveal them, since we are in the early stages of development – focusing more on graphics and network technology than in actual gameplay mechanics. When we have a stable codebase for graphics, we’ll focus more on game programming. When this is achieved, we’ll be happy to share with you tids and bits about our upcoming games.

As for company news, yesterday I got destroyed by my Federal Taxes – I didn’t get a tax refund and ended up paying for taxes (a hefty sum by the way). This money was formerly going to be invested on Brain Dead Studios Center for Technology Research, so if you put everything together – without capital for investment, Brain Dead is now bankrupt. But don’t worry, we’ll get out of this one. If you know certain facts about Brain Dead’s past, we’ve always managed to overcome many crises (company closing down due to the World Cup 2006, etc – Elioncho was responsible for this by the way).

So, stay put and keep checking our site for more updates. Oh yea, the Halo 3 Legendary Map Pack will be released today and will feature the new maps: Blackout, Ghost Town and Avalanche. So, if you are a Halo fanboy(or girl), this purchase is a must. Add me to your xbox friendslist – my gamertag is “VISOR103″, take care.
