OFFICIAL STATEMENTS FROM THE TEAM MEMBERS:

I remember the day HellDorado started. To be honest, the “Escape from Helldorado” part of the name wasn’t even there when it began. The project’s codename was JAILBREAK and it was about Gordon Freeman (The main character from the Half-Life series) trying to break out from a prison on a remote island somewhere in the Half-Life universe. The main character was supposed to encounter guards, possible military intervention, and even uncover a deadly secret about the Prison (more information in the official script). A small Prison map was put together in a matter of minutes, Elioncho was informed about the idea an hour later and 2 hours later the game’s setting was transformed from a prison to a deserted albeit mystical village somewhere in South America and an ancient Inca cave involving a mysterious Condor flying around. Elioncho took authorship of the script (which I never really saw – It could have been a figment of his imagination for all I care) and I began pondering over level design ideas.

The project was short-lived. Creative differences, in addition to Elioncho’s inability to get a copy of Half Life 2(either legitimate or pirated) made the project die a quick(but honorable) death. Besides, a new team member was added to the project during that time. An individual known as Jonathan “Condorito” Torres, who’s identity is still unknown. His responsibilities included the “Condor/Inca Programming” and his contribution to the project was the following method:

void CCondor::Render( )
{
// Insert code here!
}

Due to his inability to complete the method shown above, he was demoted from Programmer to Consultant, and took over activities such as: Garbage disposal, preparing coffee and Milo for Elioncho, etc. Condorito, wherever you are, thanks for throwing out the garbage – we will surely miss you.

HellDorado was an ambitious project when it started…hell too ambitious. At one point there were even talks on taking the script to the BIG SCREEN. But the truth right now is that no one is working on it, its current status is DELAYED and we are not sure when will it be released. There’s simply no budget to work on games of this magnitude, especially after falling in bankruptcy. Additionally, we miss Condorito’s great input after he got himself fired.

In recent days, people’s speculation raised over the project future due to a message posted by Condorito on the guest book where he said to be back. This message was just a proof of his delusional mind. He’s not coming back and as we said first, HellDorado hiatus is just a money problem.

I must say though, that we did advanced on the script and some scenery work back in 2005, when we were just a start-up company. HellDorado IS a real project and was not a vehicle to draw attention from the media, as some people believe so. I’ll post some never before seen artwork in the next couple of days.
